Handmade Hardwood Camper (Heated)
In Hamilton Central, Hamilton, Waikato Region, New Zealand
Description
I built this Camper myself late last year and it has everything that's needed when out on the road with the coziness and warmth of a real little house
It's our home made baby and we love it!
This van used to be a wheelchair vehicle and has the nice soft suspension to keep handicapped people comfortable.
This means you will be traveling like in a car, not bouncing down the road like in a commercial van :-)
I have a video! Check it out.. https://youtu.be/R22MXNC7LN4
Features:
We wanted to be warm in the winter!
So we fitted our camper with a climate controlled fully automatic diesel heater. This means that on those cold nights on a snowy mountain you can set the thermostat to 22 degrees (or warmer) and relax in comfort.
We wanted a comfy bed that can easily be changed into a couch.
So the couch rolls effortlessly into a double bed (and back again) for a comfortable sleep and if you wanted to sit up in bed you can prop up the back rest.
Rather than standard foam, the mattress itself is a one 50mm layer high density foam and one 90mm layer of high quality memory foam (it's really comfy).
I have not seen an easier to use system anywhere!
We wanted to have lights (ideally dimmable), a fridge, a stereo (with blue tooth), a separate bluetooth speaker, USB charging points and a way to use small mains appliances without having to plug in somewhere.
So we put in a 300 watt full solar setup with huge 250 amph battery that has an inverter attached.
We wanted a nice looking and functional kitchen.
So it is made with Matai (a New Zealand hardwood, this comes from a 100 year old floor), has a two hob cooker and a full size sink. There is an electric pump feeding a large tap that has a water filter built into it.
Under the bench is a large chopping board and all the cutlery, knives, ladles, pots and pans, kettle, plates bowls, cups and glasses are there!
There is 35 liters of fresh water and a 35 liter grey water tank.
We wanted to have privacy when needed.
So there are nice curtains that have magnets in the bottom hem so they attach to the wall. These give complete privacy.
When its time to go to sleep there is a switch in the cabin to lock/unlock all the doors, easy!
There are two foldup chairs, a solar shower and an outside table if you want it.
So far the feedback has been great, people have loved using it! One of the guys has re-booked it for next year while doing the handover! :-)
Drop me a line and let's sort something out for your adventure!

House rules
Pretty simple really, No smoking inside and keep your distance when following cars on gravel roads (windscreen chips).
This van is dear to us and we would really appreciate it if you treat it like we do :-)
