The north is a great spot for campervan enthusiasts to get the last of the long days. The water will still be warm enough to swim in and the temperature's a few degrees warmer.

If you rank fishing on the top of your favourite leisure activities, Northland is home to the legendary 90 Mile Beach fishing competition and the best place to cast a line.

The Coromandel

The beauty of the Coromandel Peninsula offers beaches in abundance, which makes it a perfect spot for you to sign-off summer before the season ends.

Two of the best beaches are Whangamata and Waihi in the Southern region of the peninsula. In the North West part, you’ll find Coromandel Town with its lovely, historic character full to the brim with cafes and bars, fresh seafood and not to forget the famous Driving Creek Railway.

No trip to the Coromandel Peninsula would be complete without stopping off at Hot Water Beach or Cathedral Cove in the North East part of the peninsula. Get the kids, hire a shovel, dig yourself a pool and immerse yourself in the hot water with steam billowing from the sand around you. This will make for good memories once winter comes.


Nelson is your best bet to stay for your Marlborough vacation.

It is not only a town that boasts the largest amount of sunshine hours per year but the town is also well-known for its artsy community. Nelson is home to many working artists and craftspeople, making it the perfect place for kids to get crafty.

Another sight not to miss is the foodie part: Nelson has a reputation for its delicious wine, not to forget it's the capital of craft beer brewing in New Zealand. Locally produced gourmet food completes the foodie experience.


Take your pick: lakes, mountains, wide open land and historic sites a-plenty. It's all in Otago. If you want to discover some of New Zealand's early settlers history then this will make the ideal setting for your vacation. Explore the site of New Zealand's first major gold rush at Gabriel's Gully Historic Reserve and adventure through Macetown Historic Reserve, one of the most intact historic goldfield towns of the region.

Discover the wonders our earth presents us with at the Moeraki Boulders or take the family on quick hike to see seals and penguins and be rewarded with a stunning view up from Nugget Point.

If you need a bit of city life,  pack the campervan and drive to Dunedin. From city walks, visits at the museum (everyone loves the Cadbury Museum) or the historic railway station, there is plenty to see and do for the entire family. The kids will love the Hair Raiser Ghost Tour.


Christchurch city and the vast Canterbury region have plenty to keep you entertained during your campervan vacation. If Christchurch will be your place of choice for your vacation then consider to take a trip to the beautiful town of Akaroa and be dazzled by its charm. Or take a short drive to Governors Bay and visit the unique chocolate and culinary attraction, She Chocolat. A little bit further up north and you'll have a 'whale' of a time in Kaikoura, watching sperm whales, fur seals, dolphins and penguins.

A self-drive tour of South Canterbury delivers the perfect balance of natural, historical and indulgent experiences. See the filming location of Edoras, get more adventurous and go rafting on the Rangitata River or drive over to Opihi to sample some beautiful local wines.

Located between the tips of the Southern Alps and the city of Christchurch lies Mid Canterbury and Selwyn - an area with a stunning rocky scenery and an abundance of rivers. Explore the Canterbury Plains from above, between the Southern Alps and the Pacific Ocean in one of the scenic hot air balloon flights on offer. Or hike the trails around Arthur's Pass - discover waterfalls and alpine plants.
